Chocolate mint

Chocolate mint, Mentha x piperita, is a sterile variety of mint with a back flavor of chocolate. Used for its extracts in digestive health, we find it a wonderful addition to our gardens and love the teas and tinctures we make with it. Its value as a nectary for wasps and as an olfactory deterrent for some pests solidifies its place in our hearts and gardens. 

Like most mints, this plant has weedy potential but "learns boundaries" well with mowing or cutting. We've had no escapees in four years, but have certainly added it to more than one garden!
